About Hora :

Generally, many of us consult astrologers to find an auspicious time (Muhurtham). Astrologers look into the Panchangam and provide a suitable Muhurtham. However, at times, due to various reasons, it might not be possible to approach a priest or astrologer. For such situations, astrology has provided a method called Hora system, which helps identify good and bad times within a single day. Through this Hora system, one can choose a favorable time for themselves without the need for an astrologer.

Usually, we consider a day to be from 12 midnight to the next 12 midnight. However, according to astrological calculations, a day is defined as the time from one sunrise to the next sunrise. There are 7 types of Horas in a day, and since each Hora lasts for one hour, a total of 24 Horas occur in a day. These seven Horas — ruled by the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars — follow a fixed and constant cyclic pattern throughout the day.

Each day begins with a ruling Hora. The day starts with that specific ruling Hora.

Sunday – Sun Hora

Monday – Moon Hora

Tuesday – Mars Hora

Wednesday – Mercury Hora

Thursday – Jupiter Hora

Friday – Venus Hora

Saturday – Saturn Hora

Benefits of the Horas:

Sun Hora:– Authority, Politics, Public Administration, Business

This is the first Hora on Sunday. Sun Hora is filled with energy and power. Hence, it yields favorable results for matters related to authority, politics, public administration, and business. For example, it is an ideal time to meet political leaders, carry out political activities, deal with legal matters, take or hand over responsibilities, meet government officials, join government jobs, do administrative work, and start or pursue personal business ventures. Since Sun Hora is not considered auspicious for ceremonial purposes, it is better to avoid other auspicious activities during this time.

Venus Hora:– Beauty, Arts, Marriage

This is the first Hora on Friday. Venus Hora is associated with beauty and attraction. Therefore, it is favorable for activities related to love, marriage, and male-female relationships. Likewise, it is also ideal for leisure activities such as music, art, and dance, as well as for purchasing new clothes and ornaments. Venus Hora is considered an auspicious Hora and is thus also beneficial for other auspicious events.

Mercury Hora:– Education, Communication, Travel

This is the first Hora on Wednesday. Mercury Hora is known for its speed and intelligence. Therefore, it is suitable for education, learning new skills, media-related activities, travel-related tasks, accounting, research work, and finalizing contracts. Mercury Hora is an auspicious Hora and thus beneficial for other auspicious activities as well.

Moon Hora:– Food, Water, Creativity

This is the first Hora on Monday. Moon Hora is gentle and delicate in nature. Therefore, it is favorable for activities such as purchasing jewelry, engaging in creative pursuits, and tasks related to water. For example, gardening, food-related tasks, work associated with the sea, pearls and conch-related activities, silver work, and women-related endeavors are best done during this Hora. During the waxing phase of the moon, Moon Hora is considered auspicious and is suitable for other auspicious tasks as well.

Saturn Hora:– Hard Work, Delay

This is the first Hora on Saturday. Saturn Hora is known for being slow-moving and causing delays. Therefore, it is best avoided for tasks that need to be completed quickly. However, it is suitable for foundational work in construction, agricultural tasks, and work related to oil and iron. Saturn Hora is not considered an auspicious Hora and should be avoided for other auspicious activities.

Jupiter Hora:– Spirituality, Guidance, Higher Education

This is the first Hora on Thursday. Jupiter Hora is beneficial and growth-oriented. It is considered one of the most auspicious Horas. Therefore, it is suitable for beginning new ventures, financial matters, marriage discussions, starting home construction, housewarming ceremonies, and spiritual practices. Jupiter Hora is an auspicious Hora and is beneficial for all types of good deeds.

Mars Hora:– Labor, Intense Effort, Legal Affairs

This is the first Hora on Tuesday. Mars Hora is strong and aggressive in nature. It is generally considered unsuitable for auspicious and important events. However, it is good for tasks involving fire or heat, legal proceedings, land and agriculture-related work. Also, during Mars Hora on a Tuesday, it is beneficial to repay loans or attempt to repay debts. Mars Hora is not an auspicious Hora, so it is best to avoid it for other good events.
