The day that comes after Sapthami Thithi is Ashtami. Usually, Ashtami occurs twice a month. Ashtami that comes after the New Moon (Amavasai) is called Valarpirai Ashtami, and the one after the Full Moon (Pournami) is called Theipirai Ashtami.
Usually, Ashtami is not considered an auspicious day. But Theipirai Ashtami is considered one of the most powerful days for doing prayers. It helps to overcome problems like debts, court or police cases, and can even aid in finding lost things or people. Praying on Valarpirai Ashtami is also believed to bring health and wealth.
On Theipirai Ashtami, Tamil people usually worship Kalabairavar, one of the avatars of Lord Shiva. You can visit any Shiva temple to offer your prayers to Kalabairavar.
You can perform the pooja at home or in a temple. Light an agal deepam, and if possible, light a lemon deepam. Kalabairavar loves red flowers, so offer him any red-colored flowers along with prasadham like milagu sadham or sweet pongal. Doing this pooja on every Theipirai Ashtami will help eliminate problems. Continue doing this regularly until your problems are resolved.
